he Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Subang Regency released 2024 inflation data. Year on Year inflation in December 2024 was recorded at 0.93 percent, down dramatically from the initial year figure of 4.9 percent.
This success is the result of synergy between the Subang Regency PPID, Inflation Control Team, and related agencies in controlling inflation, both directly and indirectly.
The release of inflation data was broadcast live through Radio Benpas 98.2 FM and live streaming social media.
Yaya Sukarya, S.Si. as a Junior Expert Statistician as well as a member of the Distribution Team said that activities in the distribution statistics of BPS Subang include distribution statistics, price statistics and statistics on Finance, Information Technology and Tourism (KTIP) with inflation itself included in price statistics activities.
“The distribution of this data is important to provide a comprehensive picture to the public and become the basis for strategic planning in various sectors,” said Yaya.
In addition, BPS Subang focuses on basic tasks such as population, agriculture, and economic censuses. In May 2025, they will hold an economic census mapping in preparation for the 2026 framework.
“We learn from previous experiences, prioritizing risk management to ensure targets are achieved,” he added.
Commodities contributing to inflation in December 2024 include eggs, red chili, shallots, cooking oil, and cayenne pepper. The price of chili peppers had spiked to Rp100,000 per kilogram, but the price has since dropped.
“We predict that commodity prices will stabilize in January 2025. However, ahead of Ramadan, the supply of staples may affect price increases,” Yaya explained.
BPS also urges the public to plant staple foods independently as an anticipatory measure. On the other hand, the government continues to increase food production and distribution to maintain price stability.
According to BPS West Java data, m-to-m inflation in December 2024 was lowest in Bandung Regency with 0.2 percent and highest in Sukabumi City with 0.84 percent. Meanwhile, for y-on-y inflation in December 2024, the lowest was Subang Regency with 0.93 percent and the highest was Sukabumi City with 2.59 percent.
