Reposted from @benpassubang Inflation in short is an increase in prices from a certain period, while deflation is a decrease in prices from a certain period.
This was conveyed by Mohamad Jalaluddin, S.ST., M.Si. as an Associate Expert Statistician of the Subang Regency Central Bureau of Statistics in the Lekat talk show at Radio Benpas Subang Studio on Tuesday (4/6).
When starting the talk show which was hosted by Farida Al-Qodariah, S.IKom. Jalaluddin mentioned that Subang Regency only experienced inflation this year.
He also mentioned that currently the Subang Regency Central Bureau of Statistics is coordinating many statistical activities as well as processing statistical data for Subang Regency.
Every month it also collects consumer price data through business owner respondents whose results will later be reported to the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics.
‘Inflation data for May 2024 in Subang Regency on a month to month basis experienced deflation of 0.52 per cent, on a year to date basis of 0.06 per cent the lowest in West Java, and on a year to year basis of 3.20 per cent which means Subang is still experiencing inflation,’ he added.
Jalaluddin also mentioned that in May 2024 there were 10 regencies / cities in West Java experiencing deflation, namely Bandung Regency, Majalengka Regency, Bogor City, Sukabumi City, Bandung City, Cirebon City, Bekasi City, Depok City, Tasikmalaya City, and Subang Regency itself.
